. Hospital of the Venerables Sacerdotes
The Hospital of the Venerable ones, as it is known popularly, is in the Seat of the Venerable ones, heart of the District of Santa Cruz.
Founded by the canon of S.I. Cathedral of Seville D. Justino de Neve in 1675 as it calls to account for venerable priests, it is the host present time of Foundation FOCUS.
It counts with that he is perhaps most beautiful of the Sevillian patios, with a central source staggered in the pavement, designed by the great baroque architect Leonardo de Figueroa.
Inside their consecrated church of 1,689 and in honor of San Fernando the paintings can be admired murals of presbiterio and sacristía made by Valdés Leal and those of their son Lucas whom the vault and the walls cover with the ship.
The Foundation Bottom of Culture of Seville (Focus), that recovered the old Hospital of the Venerable Priests between 1987 and 1991, using it from the last year mentioned like seat, was constituted by the company Abengoa, S.A., el23 of October of 1982. With the Foundation, the mentioned company continued and extended its cultural work in please Seville initiated in 1972 with the work publication of recognized bibliographical values and aids for students.
The restoration of the building coming from century XVII (1676), made by the doctor Crooked architect Fernando Goitia, and his later cultural use, supposes one of most important works paid for by the private initiative Spanish, near the thousand five hundred million pesetas, although Focus never has informed on the costs into the rehabilitation and later preparation into the building, with facades to the seat of Venerable and the Jamerdana street, in the heat of heart of the District of Santa Cruz.
From 1982, the Foundation Bottom of Culture of Seville (Focus), is developing to a work of diffusion and defense of the culture in all the possible fronts: exhibitions of painting, sculpture, photograph, drawing, all de' reaches international national and, own and sponsored editions. Also it has a library of Sevillian subjects and a valuable collection of engravings of the city. Concerts of organ, painting prizes, college students, of professional formation, doctoral theses, BUP and EGB, with special attention to the personnel of Abengoa. Edicione~ of bibliographical works of arts, among them the four volumes of Iconography of Seville, without a doubt the most important graphical contribution on the city until now published. Also their courses of conferences have counted with outstanding personalities of the international culture. Focus maintains special collaboration with the Universities of Seville and Deusto.
The recovered building of the old Hospital of the Venerable Priests, was inaugurated by S.M. Reina Doña Sofía day S of November of 1991, with a dedicated exhibition wing Sevillian Painting of the Centuries of Gold… The recovery of the Venerable ones, one of most valuable works of the baroque art in the Sevillian architecture, was possible by the agreement subscribed between the Brotherhood of the Venerable Priests and the president of Focus, Javier Benjumea Puigcerver, with the authorization of the archbishop of Seville, already named cardinal, fray Carlos Friend Vallejo.
The recovery of the building of the Venerable ones, Focus-Abengoa fulfilled one of its fundamental aims, as it is the conservation, diffusion and development of the historical and cultural patrimony of Seville.
Focus has granted numerous prizes by its commendable work. On the building of the Venerable ones the published collective work in 1991 can be consulted, published by the Foundation and written by diverse specialists like Francisco Morales Register, Enrique Valdivieso González, JoséFernández Lopez, Jose Enrique Ayarra Jarne and Crooked Fernando Gotilla.
